Washing Guide for woollen items

IMG_5539.heic

Wool is naturally antibacterial and dirt and odour resistant; therefore, wool items do not need to be washed often. It also can be placed outside in the air to absorb freshness.

Machine washable that has a "Wool / Silk / Hand-wash program". It's safe to wash 'hand wash only woollens item' on a "wool programme". However, as not all machines have the same settings, please ensure the temperature is 30º Celsius maximum and has a low spin on the wool program during washing. (some washing machines on hand wool programme will set automatically at 40º Celsius, please double-check before starting your device). The spin-dried can be set on 800 or 1000.

It should be washed in mild detergent specially designed for wool such as "Woolite" or any other products with Keratin technology.

Please do not tumble dry; The best way to dry your knitted item is by laying it on a towel. Ease back to its original size shape and dry flat on a dry clean towel (flipping it from time to time).

If you don't have space for the item to dry flat, you can place a larger towel over the drying unit and dry the item on top of the towel.

If, for some reason, after drying, your woollen item is misshapen and it's not in its original shape. You can easily shape it to its original form with steam and iron (wool/silk programme).

How to fix tassels after washing

After washing, the tassels will look misshaped. Please don't worry. Due to an animal fibre (fiber) in the tassels, they require a little bit of care. Firmly hold the tassel around the head area and comb it with the brush. It has to be done while the tassels are still damp. The best way to start is to brush from the middle and after brush the sides. Gantry press.   Hold the end of the tassel and remove the fluff from the ends.

How to fix your stretched knitted item after washing/drying

Knitted fabrics have excellent elasticity and can stretch significantly when wet or damp. The stretch can also depend on their material qualities and knitting pattern.

After washing, it's always recommended to dry the knitted item flat and shape to its original shape. However, we can't often dry knitwear flat.

If you decide to hang your knitted item on the drying unit, please place a large towel under it, try not to pull any edges, and make sure the item is not too wet.

If, for some reason, after drying, your woollen item is misshapen and it's not in its original shape. Don't worry; you can easily shape it to its original form with a steamer or steam iron (wool/silk programme). Do not touch the knit with iron during this process.
Please note: This video and instructions are great for natural materials; synthetic materials will behave differently to the heat.

How to make your knitwear look new again

Fabric Depille Pilling (sometimes referred to as bobbling) - Pilling is a very complex process and is caused by rubbing during wear, although it can occur in any part of the knitted garment during wear. To prevent pilling, try to minimise abrasion when wearing wool clothing, avoid using fabric softener and tern your woollen clothes inside-out before washing. A special  Fabric Shaver can be used to remove pills, and it should be done gently. Fabric "de-piller" or "fabric shaver" devices also can be operated on a battery - they are low cost and very effective at removing pills. Using any fabric shaver will give your woollen clothing a new fresh appearance again.

What to do with loose yarn ends or clear away drawstrings from knitwear

In knitted garments, many ends have to be weaved in. However, sometimes the end of yarn can pop up on the surface, and sometimes, you may never see them at all. If the loose end of yarn pop-ups, please do not cut the yarn; just tuck it in.
